EMIG Scotland hosted its first in-person member meeting on Thursday the 22nd of September in Norton House Hotel & Spa Edinburgh.
This event sees Brenda Dooley, the CEO of AXIS Consulting Scotland, and the Managing Secretariat of EMIG, act as MC for this insightful meeting.
Leslie Galloway, the Chairperson of EMIG will provide an update on the organisation and the progress made to its members since its last meeting. Additionally, 3 guest speakers will present at the conference.
Leslie Galloway
Leslie Galloway has built a successful career over 45+ years in senior management roles in both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Elected as the EMIG Chairman in 2005, Leslie Galloway has been instrumental in the metamorphosis of EMIG from being a business/networking group to the influential trade association it is today. In July 2014, Leslie was elected VP, European Confederation of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs (EUCOPE) and was appointed to the Board of the EU Medical Cannabis Association in 2019.
He was involved with the negotiation of the 2019 Voluntary Scheme and was a Member of the Working Group for the NICE Review of Methods and Process. He was also the Vice Chairman of the NICE Project Development Group for Local Formularies Good Practice Guidance, a member of the NICE Medicines Optimisation Guidance Development Group and is currently an Expert Adviser to the NICE Centre for Clinical Practice. In April 2020, Leslie became co-founder and Chairman of TetrisPharma Ltd.
Ewan Morrison
Ewan Morrison is the National Director for Medicines Innovation within the Scottish Health and Industry Partnership in the Scottish Government. This role seeks to bring together stakeholders to support the development of Economy and Innovation in particular around medicines and pharmacy. Ewan also has a role as Director of Pharmacy for NHS, National Services Scotland. He has worked in the NHS and the Pharmaceutical Industry mainly focusing upon oncology and has broad experience in many aspects of Pharmacy Practice. Interests include watching rugby and cultivating a vinyl record collection.
David Ridd
David Ridd is Head of Brand and Public Relations UK for Valneva. A multinational, specialist vaccine company with its main manufacturing base in Livingston, Scotland. As an award-winning Public Relations and Marketing Expert with extensive experience in senior roles for public and private sector organisations, he previously led the strategic marketing and business development functions for Edinburgh BioQuarter with a focus on the commercialisation of its health innovation ecosystem and life sciences community.
David previously led external communications for NHS Lothian. He is co-chair of the Life Sciences Scotland Connectivity Group and until recently was Chair of the UK Science Park Association (UKSPA) Scotland Group.
Rachel Maitland
Rachel joined MND Scotland in July 2021 and is responsible for leading the overall strategic direction of MND Scotland and is accountable to the Board of Trustees. Working alongside the Executive Leadership team, she is responsible for driving forward our mission and ensuring everyone across the team is empowered to deliver our strategic aims. Rachel is from a commercial background and has always specialised in roles where stakeholder engagement, relationship management and operational excellence have been central. She is passionate about building and developing empowered teams and actively supports continuous learning and development.
